Tender meat braised in beer make for a sandwich classic.

Ingredients
Slow Cooker
- 3 lbs beef roast (rump or top round)
- 22 oz dark beer
- 4 cups water
- 2 tbsp beef base
- 4-6 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 2 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tbsp black pepper
Sandwiches
- 6 toasted French bread buns, rolls, or hoagies
- 6 slices of Provolone or Swiss cheese
- Optional mayonnaise, or horseradish for serving
Process

Place roast in slow cooker. Add all of the ingredients and cook on low for 8+ hours.

When roast is tender, remove roast from crock pot. Pour the cooking liquid (au jus) into a bowl. Shred the meat and place back into slow cooker.

Pile onto toasted bread with cheese, mayonnaise, and/or horseradish if desired.
